Should I go back to school?

Hello people,
I have a dilemma, I am 31 years old and have an associates in Computer Information Systems. As you all might know most of the software development is getting outsourced to third world countries mainly India, which if you ask me do a crappy job and companies loose so much business because of low quality products.. but that is another topic.
The problem is that now a days the only jobs that I have been able to land have been, support jobs and things I am really not interested in, so needless to say my days are long, and I hate every minute of it.
I have some money saved and have been planning to buy a house, but being that my career is going down the drain, I have been entertaining the idea of going back to school.
I have always been into music, and would love to get a bachelors as a sound engineer or something like that, but that means making a new commitment to get student loans, or use my funds and go back to school, putting me back another 40k dollars that I can invest in something else.
I have been living in crummy apartments for the past 10 years and kind of tired of it, so that house sounds nice as well..

So the question is what would you do in my situation and why?

Thanks all

Definitely do it. It is worth having to live in student poverty for a couple of years in order to enjoy the work you will be doing the rest of your life. I went back to school at age 37 and I am glad I did. I am earning so much more now than I would if I hadn't finished my BA degree.

Sometimes my work is boring but there are worse things than boring, like misery and starvation.

Go back to school. You will never regret it.

yes you should go back to school.you can be going to school and working, while saving money for the house u intend to buy. then after u graduate move to the new house and with ur new job u can start paying off u mortgage little by little.

YES DO IT!

Sound engineer is a good occupation since it can't be outsourced and definitely in demand. I'd strongly recommend the education because it'll pay for the house in the future and it will get you a job that is more in tune with your desire and ability. Having worked miserable jobs myself, that will destroy your ambition big time and make your life unlivable. You might want to look into audio/visual work since that would make you even more in demand and since you do computer work, you've got some of the background already.
