For a smalll startup software business, is it a good idea to use offshore software development?

I don't understand outsourcing the main part of your business.

It will be difficult, as you cannot speak to your main employees face to face nor even have the same time zone. When you are discussing a usability issue with your software, the person you are talking to is 5000 miles away over a web link.

You might be able to try it relatively cheaply. It's your money. Maybe you can find a niche as a local front end to the offshore people.

If you can't do the business in house, sure.

Just don't sell yourself short
