Is Java certification useful for me?

Hi, I have 1.4 years experience in telecoms java (JSP,EJB) software development. Now I am thinking to go for SCJP exams but I am in little bit doubt that It will be not so much useful for me to do it. Can any body give comment on it?

This is an interesting subject. A lot of people will say "yes ... get the certification".

From personal experience, I can tell you that Java certifications are not as highly regarded by people who are hiring as you might think. You are better off spending your time (and money) trying to develop some useful tool. This will help you build significant experience (which you can reference in an interview).

Now, if you're trying to get the certification just for the learning experience (and not to make yourself more employable), then go ahead and pursue it.

SCJP is an added advantage for all java professional. but u have to chose for which version of java u want to give the exam. SCJP for java 1.5 is the most optimal at this point as just study the dump and you can pass easily. after passing SCJP try to give there web component developer exam . this will help you in securing a gud job.

Ya JAVA as powerfull certifyed, you can work arownd webdesign, and firemware updates. etc..

SCJP as good opertitunity for learning studends, when you trained most wanted this department.
