Question for experienced graphic designers out there?

What kind of color schemes, and styles would you do if a client wants to change to an urban, modern, youthful, style for a GIS software development company?

What kind of styles would you do to design their packaging, and color schemes reflect the American audience -- college graduates, young americans aged 22 - 35. I just want to know what Americans like and their own style of design.

As a 28-year-old working in GIS, please, nothing with globes in the design. It's just old fashioned and lacks creativity. A globe for a mapping software company makes sense, but it is also way too obvious. Sorry, but I can't tell you what I'd like to see in a design, just what I wouldn't want to see.

you will find color reports and pantone fashion colors from 2005-Spring 2008 for American markets. Also 2007 colors for designers of home furnishings. That should get you started.
also search by using the term 'color forecasting + American
market' and 'color trends + American market'. There is a trend toward hot tropical meets hippie colors of the late 60's early - 70's. Also a strong trend towards Natural colors; tans like bamboo stalk and the color of bamboo leaves bright spring like green paired with strong medium ocean blue.
