If you advertise for team leader of your safety-critical software development test and evaluation team, a person suffering from critical incident stress disorder may apply. (Perhaps he was injured robbing a jewelery store in USA in the 1970's, but you won't know that). On paper he has suitable qualifications.

If he wears outrageous clothes to the interview (for example ridiculous giant ear pendant) won't you run foul of your equity people if you don't give him the job ? (He can dress up as "gay" so as to secure the job).

dear, I wouldn't think twice or fear for being considered discriminative if I called the doctors for someone who came to a job interview with ridiculous giant donkey ears...

I'm sorry, but some of the social rules of behavior can't be neglected in such a situation.
