I wana be a software professional, in which way should I go : Development or DBA?

It depends on you. what you want to be, you might be interested in knowing the difference.

Developement :

-Design, development , support of new programs.
-Requires good analytical,programming skills and general knowledge to grasp the topic.
- Offers lot of flavours and spices in job ( like working on different domains, different places, different people )

DBA :
- Maintenance and ensuring optimum performance of the Database
- Tools and few set of commands and your work is done.
- Limited exposure to outside world of knowledge.

Monetarly, there is little difference.Both offer money at par.

Development as well as DB handling

Its not likely that your going to be able to do one while ignoring the other.

Personally, I think there's more jobs available in DBA, while Developement is much more enjoyable.
