Is there any career in software based instrumentation....?


i have completed b.tech in applied electronics and instrumentation ..... i like to become a software engineer .....
but the software development have to be in relation with instrumentation ie (using plc or dcs ) ... can u help me to find oppertunities in this field of combing the knowledge of instrumentation used in software development...... please tell me the scope in this field
