Can we employ an engineer as a consultant/contractor for his services in software comany in the perrenial work

the perrenial work of the company is software development .
please tell me the case law also

You can employ an independent contractor in any area you like. You should have sufficient contract to protect your intellectual property as anything he designs while working for you is your property.

In this line of business, independent contractors are the norm.

I was unable to locate any specific case law regarding this issue. Unless the cases warrant some type of special attention they don't usually get published. Most of these cases are settled prior to trial anyway because of the solidity of the contracts and there are usually mediation or arbitration clauses.
