Good websites for promoting software?

I am involved in the development of a new software application and was wondering if anyone has any suggestions for websites which are good for promoting/advertising the app. The only place I am really aware of at the moment is download.com

I included links to several sites that you can offer evaluation copies or shareware/freeware versions of your software.
