Software test job?

i have a software degree, but my work experience is in tech support. Theres a junior s/w testing position, but its still asking for at least 12mths experience in IT development, testing or production support.
How can i transfer my skills from tech support to testing to try get an interview?

For a junior developer position, the requirement of for 12 months development experience is more of a formality rather than a necessity.

Most HR depots have a template that they continue to repeat without thinking a lot. So do not worry just focus on your strengths.

Since you have a degree, therefore
1) You know how computers actually work and how to program them. Just brush up your knowledge on the technologies needed for the job. Testing methodologies, testing frame works and automated testing suits.

2) Read latest articles about the technologies that they have ask for.

Since you have been in support for 1 year, therefor
1) You already have superior people skills and team work ethic. A big plus for you here.

2) Be prepared to justify your move from support to testing.

I would suggest saying that you have worked in support and have developed valuable patience to deal with customers. You think that this patience will be very helpful in carefully testing the software.

Furthermore, after seeing people complain about the software, you became curios that why do softwares malfunction. By doing software testing you want to ensure that no bug escapes you and bothers precious customers ;)

and off course, you are eager to engage in more learning experiences.

just sale yourself for the job, you dont have to give the full truth just part of it and maybe you can word it so you look good for the job.

I'd apply anyway and just sound really techincal about the questions they ask in the interview. They might bend the rules.
