Web Designing!? Help me please!?

I want to be a Web Developer. I am learning Flash now myself. What software/development tools should I learn? Will the knowledge of Flash help me in earning money or getting a good job?

I have already got sound knowledge of Computer Softwares and am familiar with HTML and MS-Frontpage.

I want to get a job in web designing/development in 1 or at most 2 months.

FrontPage is not considered a 'professional' product - you won't see companies advertising for that skill set. To get an idea of what you should learn, go to a job site like Monster.com, and look at ads for web developers.

Note the job normally divides into two basic areas - web programming, and web design. Choose which you want to specialize in, but make sure you have knowledge of both. For design, Photoshop is universally required.

Dreamweaver is a solid platform for programming, and as others have mentioned, PHP and Javascript in addition to general programming are good items to have in your resume. Also, there are still many ColdFusion shops around (which is like a sub-set of PHP). Having ColdFusion experience is a plus.

Likewise, ASP and .Net users are still plentiful. However, you can't learn all these skills - chose a subset and get VERY good at them. The job ads will indicate the right mix for most jobs.

Another area that is about to get VERY hot is web 2. This is really a mix of XHTML and JavaScript, and it gives a whole new dimension to website design. Right now, Web 2 is COOL!

It's nice you know how Flash works, but Flash is just one of many tools. A good designer knows first how to design: layout, color management, interface issues, accessability, etc. It doesn't matter which tools you know/use to finish the site...what matters is does the site look good & function.

Sorry to say but Frontpage is old technology. I'd recommend you get Macromedia MX Suite and learn Dreamweaver MX.

I'd also recommend you get at least a basic understanding in Javascript and scripting (such as Php). You may have someone else writing the code for you, but you need to have a general idea of what it can or can't do.

To get a job you'll also need to demonstrate your work. Develop a portfolio. Offer to do free sites for maybe 5 or so businesses (volunteer your time for non-profiits). It'll be a great learning experience for you, and then you can show something to a prospective employer.

To fill in your gaps in skills, I'd highly recommend taking a few classes in *design* (not in "How to Use FrontPage"). Most community colleges have affordable classes which cover many of these topics. Making a really good site is an art. Then work on your portfolio and go from there!

Defenitely it is good learning a software on your own.
But, it can only help us upto an extent. Try visiting the site http://www.neave.com . It is completely made up of flash. So, if u study Flash and try to make a website, it has to be that much perfect.
Some mixing up would do fine. You have to use some Flash, Dreamweaver, Frontpage, Java, Javascript, PHP, and the very same HTML.
Flash could only give us interactivity. But all these together can make a perfect website.
If u are only learning Flash, then learn it fully. Or else it will be a perfect flop.
But if u r studying the basics of atleast 4 of the above mentioned, than that will be enough(Not fully enough) to get a job. So, it is better to learn as much as u can about all the softwares u have heard about web-designing.
But i am not discouraging you, it is good studying Flash on your own, coz i studied Flash the same way. It could help you in getting a job in Animation or web-designing. So, don't give up Flash ok?
