I want to start a career in programming.?

am in New Zealand and currently studying dip in software development.several languages are in my modules such as C, C++ and Java but i dont know which one has the most job availability and is the most lucrative to pursue when i finish studies.

I have to say this from experience. The more you know about Oracle will help you go a long way with more pay in the workforce. To help with your decision above please look below.

Please see the first link on "Similarities and Differences Between C++ and Java"

Second link "A Comparative Overview "

Third link "C++ vs. Java"

I found all the sites by performing the following search on Yahoo -- "C+ vs Java".

I hope this helps you in making your decision on the most lucrative job to pursue. :)

That will depend where you want to go, or what field you wanted. because there are lots of job oppurtunity specially they when we are talking computers. Jobs are world wide. just concentrate to learn the basics which will be a substancial one in your chosen profession.

It is better; you just register your biodata with a job portal, website...and search in accordance with your present qualification....navigate throught the result, whether there is any opportunity for the field...then type your interest(programming) at search bar and click search...again go through the final...find which organisation, where, when recruit, demand, whether experience required or not etc etc..

Then you can make a decision whether you are compatible or not...Do a better decision in accordance with the demand of the industry... otherwise you would fail in life/career

Seek assistance from your school teacher, friend, take a chat..make friends at NZ.. discuss this matter...chat with working s/w professional, about the vacancies prevailed...

languages are just a means for writing programs. there r some features of each language that makes it unique n important. like java is portable or c more faster. there r scopes for every languages that exists n those that will come in future. remember that its not the language that makes software good, its the design n analysis. so companies look the guys that r good at design n analysis.
i have programmed in above three language n suggest u doing more in java since development is faster here in my opinion.

I'd learn one of the object oriented languages, such as C++ or Java (generally now-a-days, they tech C, as a first step to either C++ or Java).

Between Java and C++. Java is often considered easier (i.e. Java sometimes referred to being a "cleaned up" version of C++). But, I think you will have more job options with C++.

Once you know C++, you can easily migrate to Java -- but it is much more difficult to migrate from Java into C++.
