I have a B.A. in Political Science - how can I break into the IT field? |
I received my B.A. from a very highly respected university and would prefer not to have to get another bachelor's degree. I'm interested in software development and am hoping to somehow get my foot in the door and learn on the job. Is this possible? If so, how? If not, what is the fastest way for me to enter the field without going back to school full time? I'm 32 and don't want to be eating Ramin noodles again! If you're getting into .NET programming, then get your MCPD certification: http://www.microsoft.com/learning/mcp/mc... sorry guy - you have to go back to school I agree with Michale F. in that you will have to get some coursework on different languages and models to get up to speed. However you will not have to get another B.A. or B.S. I would start by taking some courses at night at a local community college. Make an appointment to meet with a Career Counselor at a local community college. They are usually available to meet with people from the the local community to help design a plan. It make take a little longer than full time school, but it is manageable. |
