Dual boot Vista/XP pro success?

My business partner needs to create a machine for software development that will allow him to boot vista and/or XP. He has a dual drive machine that was built with a Vista OS. He is very close, but has some stability issues that he has not been able to overcome. Has anyone out there been successful in creating this environment?
