Emmigrating to canada as an computer scientist? |
after spending a few holidays in canada, i really fell in love with this country. now i`m thinking about emmigrating to canada, but i`m not sure how exactly to do it, especially about making money. I`m 25 years old and in about 3 months I will have my diploma. I`ve studied informatics and computational liguistics at the university of heidelberg, germany. my final grades will be good-excellent. since about 18 months i`ve worked part time at hewlett-packard as an administrator/supporter for linux and unix servers. so i could be working as an administrator or in computational linguistics/software development. i can program java, perl, python and c. just as a quick outline..... I kind of expected the salaries in canada to be a little lower than in the us. in germany i would start with about 42.000 euros a year. exchange rate for cad is about 1,33, which would make 55820 cad a year. but i`m not strictly comparing the salaries between the countries. i want to go to canada, not the us and for sure not uk. (i really love vancouver!!! :) ) so i just wanted to know about how much it could be and how much must be subtracted for taxes and insurances. maybe if i could make more working in software development or linux administration. Dont know much about Germany but if you just want to compare money earning potential you would probably be better off in the USA, UK. Because salaries there are much better compared to those in Canada. |
