Latest and Greatest?

I've been away from software development for about 3 years. I was always a Microsoft Shop programmer (vb, asp, .net, etc.)...looking to get back into it again. Just looking for an avenue to study to help me get back with the times quicker while not wasting time studying dead or dying technology. Any ideas? Thanks

With the exception of the new .NET technologies, the popularity of Ajax, and the sudden growth of Ruby, it's about the same as 3 years ago.

You haven't missed much then as they are still around.
