How do i quit?

Hey there people. I recently started working in the municipality as a caomputer programmer, the only problem is that im not certificated as a programmer yet... My exams is in july 2008. Anywho, they appointed me as a GI operator (data capturing), and said i can do their programming for the experiance. I got appointed as a contracter for 12 months expering 01\09\2008.

Now my question... I just got offered for a job at a software development company for much more cash, i mean its a actual programming(!!!!!!) position. But how put i it in a way to make it benefisiry for the municipalty to break my contract in a nice, friendly way?

Id like to add, now that i think about it. Sould i do it private with the maneger or should i do it next friday on our year end function, when the whole crew will be there?

well usually it is nice to give at least a 2 - 3 week notice of your leaving... since they DID hire you for the experience tell them that you genuinely appreciate the chance they gave you and if it weren't for their kindness you wouldn't have the great opportunity you were offered.. that's what i would have done.. best of luck.

Just tell them its an opportunity you have to take and there is not hard feelings. Compliment working for them and thank them. They should understand that you have goals and dreams too.
