Incremental approach?

What are the advantages of using an incremental approach to software development?

Testing is completed during each increment, so the next step is built on something that WORKS.

When non-incremental approaches are used, testing is often overlooked at the detail level. Some modules, functions and objects may be incomplete, and get past some final testing stages.

The disadvantage is that the full design might not be completed until the last incremental stages.

Most mistakes are due to a lack of testing.
