Is it bad to quit a job after 1 year? (my previous jobs are also < 2 years old although there is valid reasons

After college (Computer Science major), I worked for 4 companies (2 start-up, 1 consulting, and 1 large software company). I worked for 1-2 years at each company. Then I got my mba. now, i worked for a large company for 1 year. Unfortunately, I had 5 bosses in 13 months. I've learned a lot in my job, but the management change is taking a toll on me. and the new boss is very bad, everybody hates to work for him. Should I stick around so that my resume will look better? or should i leave for better opportunities?

Yes, it can be very bad if you can't convince future employers that you left those jobs for absolutely good reasons.

In your future interviews, be sure you're able to, for each of your career moves, explain very clearly and logically how you came to decide to leave. Express that you don't enjoy or intend to be a "job hopper". Show that you're doing everything you can not to have to not leave a job in less than 3-5 years.

Careers, especially high-tech careers, are too short to waste time in a bad job. Personally, my rule of thumb is: If I haven't learned anything significantly new in the past 3 months, it's time to update my resume. A good job is one that challenges you.

Good luck.

At some point, you need to find something that fits you and stick with it. It sounds like that should ideally be your next job - too many short jobs and your next employer is going to worry that you might take a few months to train and get up to speed to then just stroll out the door. (That doesn't really matter if you're starting your own thing of course.) Now I'm not saying stay at a job that you hate that you're unlikely to fall in love with at any point. While it's probably fine that you've got a few companies with short experiences on your resume, it's probably time to buckle down and find something you're really passionate about and stick with that for a bit. :)

It's been over a year and your other work history shows 2+ years so no it doesn't look bad at all. I recommend to my job seekers that they hold on to their position until they secure another one, especially in such a slow economy like this one.

I also recommend other resources then online boards, like specialized staffing agencies or small consulting areas (like mine) that will help you through the process of landing the CAREER you want. Networking is key and probably the first thing you want to hit before posting a single resume anywhere!
