I need help with graphics card?

I tried to load a game from the store. It's an older game so I thought it might be ok. However, it loaded and I tried to play. It gave me this message about my graphics card. Can you help me fix this problem and tell me whats wrong? I want to learn something from all this. I had another game that wouldnt work. Maybe my computer is too ancient...I don't know. But I son picked this game out and I want him to be able to play. Thanks for all your help. I'm not very savvy when in comes to the inside of the machine....all that hardward/software talk.....Im braindead. Here's the message....

Looks like your graphics card doesn't support directx.

You have an ooooold graphics card. You can buy a cheap one off of newegg, but you probably don't know how to install one.

If you have a computer friend I would suggest asking them how to install one.

newegg.com is a good site for finding computer parts.

Here is a link to some extremely cheap graphics cards. They'll be able to play some older games, but definitely not newer ones.

I can't see your computer so I can't recommend a specific card. You could always take it in to a computer repair shop and ask them to buy and install the best possible graphics card for a certain price range. I'm sure they would accommodate you.

Well your computer has a standard computer card. If it is a game with a ton of graphics your computer will error out or you will get a black screen with a bunch of lines. Which your computer is doing.

What are the system requirements printed on the side or back of the game box???

I believe what you should do is, instead of going through the trouble and expense of up-grading your PC, you should put the money you would normally use towards doing this on purchasing a computer game player my friend. That way your son won鈥檛 bug you to use your PC at the same time you want to use it avoiding a conflict of interest that I have already seen occur in my own family environment with my daughters kids. Go here and do a read about what it is you want, then using this information make your best decision on which product would best suit your current status. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/PlayStation After you do this if you decide to buy a game player, go to 鈥淪TART鈥?then click on 鈥淐ONTROL鈥?then click on 鈥淎DD\REMOVE PROGRAMS鈥?and delete every thing you loaded into your PC from the program CD to regain the memory you lost loading it up. Good luck, and God bless you my friend.
