Can you help me with a Yoga project?

I am completing a project for Yoga Teacher Training, and I'd like to survey people about a concept called Sthirasukha. Sthirasukha is a concept in yoga that is used to describe a sensible and well structured yoga practice. In every posture, one should experience sthira (steadiness/awareness) and sukha (ease/comfort). Without both, there is no intelligent practice. As always, the concepts we experience on the mat can translate into life. When in your life have you experienced Sthirasukha? When have you been aware and alert, but with comfort and ease. I look forward to your answers and thanks!!

I like this project that you have. I am also a yoga teacher and we didn't have to do this but I think it is a wonderful question. I would have to answer: I experience Sthirasukha in my dealings with children. You have to be aware of what you say and do and how you act around children but you need to have eas, softness and comfort in those dealings. The children are going to shape the future. Good question and thank you for asking!!!

As you know there are 3 parts to being a complete Yogi. 1st the physical, 2nd the nutrition, & finally the spiritual. Where one leaves off & the other beings is a blurred line in deed. By having cleansed your body of toxins thru diet & trained your self thru the movements, how can the spiritual not closly follow via meditation and calming thoughts or non-thoughts. Good question.

I've been practicing yoga for about 4 years and I do feel like that on the mat at times. Other times would be when I am rock climbing!

When I learned to read music and play guitar.

As I understand, one of the many reasons for asana practice is to prepare the body for, and remove obstacles to, extended sitting meditation.

So for me, the answer to your question would be when I meditate, which like my yoga practice, develops characteristics that last thru the day even after I finish my sitting, just like as you implied, our yoga practice develops characteristics we carry with us even after we put away the mat.

Am reminded of a story once read about a student of Aikido.
Apparently when walking in a bad section of the city, he was approached by two 'shady' looking men.
As they aprroached him, they split to take up positions on either side of him.
He heard knives, possibly switchblades, click open.
He did not turn to confront them, instead, only 'centering' himself and waited with mindful awareness for them to commit to their next move.
Instead of attacking him, he sensed them relax, and turn away, one muttering to the other, "Guess we picked the wrong guy..."

Hatha yoga is generally not considered a martial art, but I think both can be paths to developing 'awareness with ease'.

Namaste',
