Buy or sell: KRS One has Alzheimer's?

Yes, that's a shock title. But seriously is anyone else familiar with KRS One's interviews from the last few years? And if so, what do you think of his ideas. I admit he is a smart dude when he wants to be, and can be very articulate about hip hop culture. But some of things he says are ridiculous. Like James Brown being the second coming of Jesus Christ, and Hip Hop on Mars.

For example, this is from an interview from about 2006:

"KRS-One: No one is capable of taking hip hop to where I see it going. I have a divine mission. I have come out of the universe to get this sh!t together. But for now I have to set up for the true messiah to come. I鈥檓 more like John the Baptist. I鈥檓 proclaiming the word. The closest is Nas. I鈥檓 training Nas to be that leader.

VIBE Online: Seems people have wanted Nas to be that guy since 鈥?3.

KRS-One: Oh, Nas is 鈥渢he one.鈥?But you want to talk about someone caught between the CEO world and the movement -- Nas has issues. He鈥檚 in the hood, Queensbridge projects, he鈥檚 gotta keep it real with the fellas. Then he picks up the phone and talks with me discussing NASA and the universe and hip hop鈥檚 role on Mars. When I asked him, 鈥淣as I want you to speak at NASA,鈥?he hung up the phone on me. He couldn鈥檛 take it. He called me back an hour later saying, 鈥淵o, man. I鈥檓 sorry man. Yo, man. Yo, you just too much man. I had to take a breather.鈥?I said, 鈥淪top being afraid. It鈥檚 just a building. You go and you talk and you leave.鈥?But he wants the training. He鈥檚 interested in the training and he鈥檚 not afraid. It鈥檚 just I鈥檓 a crazy guy.

VIBE Online: Are you prepared for the movement to fail?

KRS-One: Yes. Because it can鈥檛. Nothing real can ever fail. Nothing real can be destroyed. And hip hop, this movement, is real"

Sell ~ You are making a mockery of a man who is historical and a legend. He is the "Blastmaster", the "teacha', the "professor". Just because you may not understand exactly what he says or why he says it who are you to judge or criticize. I doubt that you've been in the "rap" or "hip hop" game as long as he has or that you have got even ONE of the many awards or accolades that he has. So stop hating and let the man be who he is. He is good for the younger generation of rappers, he is a positive force and does good things. He travels around to universities at THEIR request and speaks, he also teaches a class on Hip Hop & Rap at a college...so until you reach his status stop HATING!!!
