7th grade Mean Teacher? Help? |
My daughter is in 7th grade , she has this teacher who keeps making comments to the other kids about her. My daughter is not doing very well in her class, she has a hard time but every night I help her with her work to try and make her keep up with the class and understand what she is not, she has a hard time with comprehension and has had a SST and has her homework modified now (this middle of the year) and now she has a science project and wanted to team up with a girl in her class and the teacher told the girl not to team up with her because she does not understand and doesn't have a good grade in that class, in front of the other students. My daughter just needed a modification with work cause it takes her a little more time to comprehend, which working with anther student would have been a good idea and a boost of confidence, scince this teacher has given her low-selfesteem scince the begining of the year, other classes are fine. they said it is too late for her to change now. Talk to the school board. In some places, it's not even legal for the teachers to talk about the other students. She shouldn't be allowed to do this to your daughter. School is for boosting self confidence, not destroying it. This teacher is not just mean, she's actually picking on your daughter. It might even count as harrassment. If that were my child I would go to the board of education in your town and the principal. Teachers should NEVER talk about a student like that. Everyone struggles in school we dont need anyone making it worse. Take action for your daughter. Go to the big guys and tell them. That teacher needs to be informed of manners and kindness. Have you spoken to this teacher? take her out that class i had a teacher like that she made my life and school exprence hell so i skiped her class you should turn her into the board of euducation and its not to late to change her class you can have that class droped with no problem good luck and tell ur daughter to stay postive and keep her head up No child should be degraded that way - inside or outside of the classroom - by a staff member or another student. If your daughter needs accomodations to understand or complete her work it is the responsibility of the school to assist in that, and without putting her down. The school should have a book of guidelines regarding everything - student expectations, behavior that is expected of both students and staff, as well as procedures to resolve issues. I would talk to the teacher immediately if you haven't already, and also speak with the principal. I wouldn't wait to hear back from the teacher, I would go straight to the principal at the same time you take the matter up with the teacher so the teacher doesn't have time to deny everything and further take things out on your daughter in the classroom. Don't allow this kind of behavior on part of the teacher to continue; who knows if he/she is treating other students this way, plus it's unfair to your daughter. Alright I am ready to fight!! i would beat the teachers @$$ this teacher needs to be reported I had that problem when I was in school. That exact problem. Like your daughter, I wasn't stupid, but some ways of learning simply did not work for me and it was extremely discouraging to hear my teacher say such things about me when I knew it wasn't right. My mother went to the board of education and had me transferred in March. She also talked to the teacher before she met with the Board, and got a response that was...less than respectful. It's never too late (although June is a little silly) Tell your daughter she is not alone, lots of other kids have the same problem. Talk to the teacher yourself, and make it clear that this will no longer happen. Be strong, good luck! First you need to talk to the teacher, never assume anything. You need to hear her side and discuss with her how you feel. If things don't change or she doesn't respond well to you and you find out that your daughter had her story straight then I would go to the principal next. Just keep going up the chain until someone listens. You have to start with the teacher though, how awful you would feel if you went straight to the principal or the board of ed and somehow it came out to be all a misunderstanding. There is a statement I always like to refer to in these situations. "I will believe half of what your daughter says about you, if you only believe half of what she says about me". I am not saying there is not a problem or that your daughter is lying. But if she is like most kids, they don't always get things correct. If I relied on my daughter for the facts in given situations, I may as well rely on the media. There is also the other popular phrase "There are three sides to each story. His, hers and the truth". You obviously need to behind closed doors with yourself, the teacher and your child to get the bugs worked out. You may find out she is a wonderful teacher, or that she is as wacked as you suspect. Then some strong armed tactics are needed. i would be putting in a written complaint about this teacher. |
