I want a topic for a project on computes.. more software oriented would be fine.. please suggest some ideas?

i am doing my degree in computer engineering.. it would be better if i had a project to develop some software as per todays requirement.. if it was Java or C based it would be more preferable.. our budget is 25000/- it should be ready and impressive and workin within a years' time.. please suggest something nice to suite our requirements..

there are quite a few projects you can do with this budget. but it would be nice to know what technologies interest you most

for example if you like wireless technologies you can do project like:

bluetooth enabled appliances (you can turn on anything by sending a message through your BT device to an adapter where your appliance is plugged)

motion controller vehicle (you can have a webcam directed to you and when you move to the left a remote controlled car will also move to the same direction)

anyway there are quite a few nice things you can do..but it all depends on what drives you to do it on the first place.
