Financing an eagle project?

Hey. I am planning on starting my eagle project soon, but I don't really know how to finance it. I want to build a turtle platform in a pond and plant trees around the pond to provide shade. Is this a good project? Will the council approve? Who should I ask for donations? The local 7/11 or something bigger? I am the only boy scout in my family and I need help. PLEASE ANSWER.

This might be a good project. The Eagle project must show leadership, and be of benefit to the community. If you can cover these two point in your proposal, you have a good project.

Visit http://www.nesa.org and download the Eagle Scout application packet. You will also want to contact your District and ask your Eagle Scout coordinator his/her thoughts on your project.

To get funding, try contacting local hardware/lumber stores and asking for donations of materials. If you have a detailed plan and exact quantities of items you will need, this will help. For trees, try a local nursery or home center. Be sure to request indigenous varieties of trees. If you can't find them local, you can buy seedlings from http://www.arborday.org/ for about a buck a piece. These are usually less than 12" high. You might also try your city or county parks department to see if they have seedlings or supplies you can use for the project. If the pond is on public property, you will need permission first, and they may be willing to provide supplies.
