Final cut express editing on 8gb flash drive! Will it work?

I plan on doing alot of video editing. I dont want it saved to my mac hard drive. will it fit to a 8gb flash drive or will I need something large?. Once Im finished with a project I wll export it to quicktime to my hard drive. and delete the editing stuff from my flashdrive.

The projects are small. No longer than 5 minutes.

5 minutes of what type of video? If it's avi, no problem. You may need to have the flash plugged into a high speed usb port if your computer has one.
