Do I have a chance to get into an ivy league school?

I am going to be a junior in high school. I have a 4.54 gpa (3.96 unweighted). My class rank is 6/1200 students. I volunteer at the hospital every week and do other projects from time to time (have about 150 hours so far). I have an officer position in student council, have been on the tennis team both years, play tennis in the competitive training program at a tennis club, and have participated in math team (plan to become more involved this year). In my free time I design and make jewelry and closely follow sports. I have not taken the SAT or ACT but I usually test pretty well.

do i have a chance or should i lower my expectations. my family members are pretty convinced that you have to start a charity in a third world country to get into schools like stanford or princeton.

Stanford and Princeton along with Harvard and Yale can be pretty unpredictable and many have national/intenationl honors. The other ivies and top schools are more predictable for those with very high stats. Your class load and rank are good. With a 2250 plus SAT you should get into "an" ivy if you have a few nice activities, strong recs and good essays.

The fact that you're a suburban white female puts you at a huge disadvantage. If it came down to you and an African American or Hispanic girl, they'd certainly pick them over you.

Ivy League schools are so overrated anyway. If you really care about your future and college experience, take the time to read this article http://www.time.com/time/magazine/articl...

The part about charity in third world is not true. My uncle went to Brown. Your standing is very good but there are two problems. Your activites are diverse, very diverse, perhaps toooo diverse. It may suggest that you are not focused on your goal. From reading what you wrote, I have no idea what your career goal is. However, some admissions people really like that. The other problem is the SAT. You really should have taken it by now but theres still time.

I don't think you're gonna make it. Just kidding, that sounds really harsh.
