So what do you think? Any other colleges you would recommend?

First of all, congrats for all the hard work you've put in! :o) These are really strong scores.

To be honest, I'm pretty confident with these scores, you can get into Cornell and possibly Columbia, Brown and Dartmouth. You'll probably be waitlisted for the remaining Ivy Leagues -- UPenn, Harvard, Yale, Princeton. (My husband got a 1340 on his SATs, and he got into Cornell and Columbia and got waitlisted to UPenn. He also AP'ed out of a lot of courses. That's where I'm basing my assumption for you from.)

With your scores, you can definately look at Wellesley College (my alma mater), Carnegie Mellon, Berkeley, Northwestern, U Chicago, Wash U (St Louis), and possibly Rice (which is hard to get into).

Besides college in general, look at what you're thinking of wanting to major in.

If you want to do math/ science/ engineering/ IT, check out Cornell, Carnegie Mellon, Berkeley, etc. They have a strong reputation as well as a strong recruiting and co-op connections. If you're more interested in the liberal arts, Brown, Dartmouth, Yale, Wellesley, or Northwestern would be more of a better suit for you.

(If you can, complete your early decision application and as many early applications as possible.)

Good luck!

You have some really great qualifications. However, just because those schools you mentioned are Ivies, doesn't mean they are right for you. Ivy League schools are so overrated. I turned down three of them to attend a small liberal arts school that would better prepare me for the working world. Please take the time to read this article: http://www.time.com/time/magazine/articl...

Some schools I recommend to you are Middlebury College, Wellesley College, and William and Mary. They are all very different prestigious schools, but are extremely focused on teaching and individual students.

Both your GPA and SATs are below average for all ivies. That makes them unlikely this year especially, with the largest graduating class in decades applying.

I hate to be a Debbie Downer, but even with incredibly strong scores, such as yours, it will be difficult for you to get into an Ivy League school.

Now, I don't want to sound bitter, and I am not trying to discourage you from applying, but I speak from experience. I had an ACT score of 35, an SAT of 2300, 12 AP classes (with scores of 5 on all of them), class valedictorian (no grade lower than an A, not even an A-, ever), was a member of my school's state and national champion Academic Decathlon team, did marching band, was vice president of two clubs, and volunteered for 3 hours a week at a local hospital for 3 years (I also did church volunteer work), and I was rejected at Yale and waitlisted at Harvard.

However, you have several advantages over me, so don't loose hope. You go to a private school, whereas I went to public. Also, Harvard and Yale are crazy with admissions, where Cornell and U Penn are still highly selective, just not insane. Do you live outside the midwest? If so, you have yet another advantage over me.

So, you have a decent shot at Cornell and U Penn, but it will be tougher for some of the other Ivies. For other schools, I would recommend other highly selective schools, like Wash U in St. Louis or Georgetown. These are still first class schools, but they accept more than 1 out of 11 or 12 applicants.

Answering strictly on a "could I get in" basis, definitely yes. Be aware that some of these Universities are comprised of multiple colleges, each of which has their own admittance standards. For example, you could probably get into Cornell's School of Agriculture, but you might be rejected for Cornell's School of Engineering.

Yale, Harvard and Princeton are generally more difficult to get into than the rest.

You didn't list your race/ethnic background (yes, it matters.) In general, the more you fill out the diversity profile, the better it is. Also, some schools will have a dearth of out-of-staters and that can help sometimes, too.
