Painting a solo seat cowl

I drove off from a gas station last weekend and a few miles down the road I felt something rattling behind me. Before I could reach back, my cowl went flying and hit the road at 60 mph ... It was pretty scratched up but I managed to recover it before it was run over.

I'm gonna try to repaint it myself, just wondering if there was a good brand of paint to use. I'm just gonna buy something in a can. My plan was to sand down the cowl, bondo a couple spots where the surface was ground down to the plastic, and then primer, black coat, and clear coat it. I was even thinking of putting some type of custom design on in white before I apply the clear coat... I have a friend would said he would trace it out for me. I'm thinking a solid white grim reaper outline would be cool

So I have a couple questions... what is a good paint that I can get in a can? I guess I'll need primer, black, white, and clear coat. Color should match a 2002 GSXR 1000 Blue/White model. Also, how many coats should I put on of each color, and are there any steps I am leaving out? I appreciate the help, I've never done any body work before, but I thought it would be a fun project since I can't really mess up the cowl any more than it already is.

You got the right idea. Three coats minumum and Ace makes a good brand that wont break you.
