Former Catholics, did you know that the Church still lists lapsed members and even speaks in your name?

I just found out that as a former Catholic, the church still has me as a member of my old congregation. I found out about this because a pro life group listed my name amongst a group of people they thanked for support in their fight against abortion. It seems that there are still people who are regarded as being members of the church even though they walked away. I'm drafting a very angry letter to the Archdiocese right now, demanding that my name be removed from any records of membership and that I be listed as excommunicated. I suggest that if you plan to spend your life free of Catholic influence you do the same. Who knows how many of us have been listed amongst the supporters for some project that we would otherwise stand against.

I know most of you may say that this is insignificant, but consider this, that the church is using our names to carry out it's agenda. I regard the church as a criminal organization and would rather set myself on fire than be listed a catholic.

But I do agree. They should remove you from the members list if you are no longer a member.

Just send them a letter...like you did...your parents told the Church that you were Catholic and they rely on you to tell them when you aren't. The alternative would be trying to track people down to repeatedly ask them what they currently believe. It's not a big deal to send a letter. You might want to encourage any Christian to do the same. This practice is not Catholic specific.

Then feel lucky your grandfather wasn't muslim, or you'd be considered one of those as well, just because you were born. Hell, they even consider Moses and Jesus among their deceased members.

WOW! I'll investigate that further. That is interesting. I do not know if the Church I used to go to as a kid still has me listed.
