Any ideas for a family volunteer/charity project for 3 kids ages 13, 10, and 5?

I would like to do a short term project with my kids this holiday season, and then plan some kind of small charity project once a month next year. Any ideas?

For their church projects each of my four kids volunteered at an animal shelter and absolutely loved it! The only problem we had was that they wanted to adopt every other dog that came into the shelter, but once we set the rules, having two dogs at home, everything worked out just great!
They learned kindness, gentleness, patience and giving of themselves to a living creature that needed it. I was so proud of each of them!

I think Churches are good or going to the Senior Center.

Animal Shelters are always a good choice. The kids love it and so do the animals.

Another project could be helping an elderly neighbor with the fun task of raking leaves this fall.

An easy and rewarding one is The Pencil Project. (perfect for kids that are your children's ages)
