Computer project question (access or excel).? |
hey everyone. i really need some help. you see...im gonna have to start working on a computer project soon. my project is gonna be a report card system for a school. basically, i want to store all the information about the students and the marks they got in their exams, as a table, on the computer. i also want the computer to be able to calculate things like the average and total marks for each student automatically. but im not really sure whether to use excel or access for this project. u see, im more accustomed to using access(not that i don't know how to use excel) but its easier to perform calculations using excel. and there are gonna be a lot of calculations as im planning to have the computer calculate the average marks for each student. so just looking for advice guys. access or excel? You can do it in both, in my opinion for what you want I would just use Excel. I write databases in Access often and I make customized spread sheets in Excel often, so I'm very familiar with both, but for what you want I'd use Excel, it will be allot quicker and easier in Excel. I would say Excel, much more easier to use and working out all them averages and stuff will be a doddle with Excel. Speicially with the AutoSum button. MS Excel wud be a better choice . I would say Excel, with "Autosum" and "Average'" it should be pretty easy, for example: "=AVERAGE(A1:A10)" would return an average of the ten items on a column. |
