Help me in my project please!?

I need help please
my project in my university is an argument program
it contain 4 people presenter, someone with the idea ,another one against and the last one in the middle

our topic is:
"Some people believe that success in life comes from taking risks or chances. Others believe that success results from careful planning."

I'm a presenter of our program and I need some questions and points to argue.

Quickly please

is a calculated risk classed as planning?

does planning just reduce the element of risk?

can an educated person risk everything with no knowledge of the outcome? every risk has an element of planning

how would you define risk

how would you define chance

could a society survive if everybody left their life to chance

If you believe so much in risk taking and chance..why attend university? you must have some plan?

Ultimatley most risks require an element of planning
most planning requires an element of risk
chance occurs as a by product of both of these

( good summing up)

hope these help. make em squirm baby

what abot asking if the answer to the topic very much depends on the ype of personalities involved?

1) Success is different to everyone
2) How careful can you plan for the unexpected?

Just write a small sentence and get a F if you can't fide anythink.

I would bring up the fact that nothing could work without proper planning and a good background of facts also you could mention that research is a very important part of your facts

I think you need to use your own skills... it isn't your work otherwise!

writer/retired journalist

Think about some rally successful people eg Bill Gates, Richard Branson etc and think about whether they got there by planning or risk taking. A few more ideas on this website

Medical research is a good one. It takes a lot of trials and test before a good result is achieved.

Medical researchers dont just take chances with medicine, a lot of planning and testing goes into it.

They cant just pump someone full of something they might think will maybe work, they test on a microbe level, then tissue samples, then living animals then finally humans.

I know tey are not always right, mistakes are made, but an awful lot more people would react badly or die if they just jumped in without planning and testing.

When I taught business communications, here is how I instructed my students to debate a point. Give three reasons and support for each and then tell the audience which one you believe to be the best.

In this case, success can come by taking risks or chances because you never will know whether something works or not until you give it a try. Also, taking risks and chances is innovative and often results in new ideas and expansion of knowlege. There is such a thing a calculated risks wherein the benefits and disadvantages are weighed into the decision to take a chance as well.

The reason many say that success comes from careful planning is due to studies done in the late 80's which indicated that 80 percent of new businesses fail due to poor planning and the 20 percent that succeeded did so due to careful planning. One such study was conducted by the Small Business Administration. They found that when businesses started with a well defined business plan carefully outlining their marketing strategies, budgets, operating procedures, and administration they were much more likely to be profitable and still in business 5 years after starting it.

Ps One of the most definitive books on the topic is called The Change Masters, Innovation & Entrepreneurship in the American Corporation by Rosabeth Moss Kanter

Good luck on your presentation.

Define 'Success'?

What is 'Success'?

What does it mean to be Successful'?

What attributes do you require to be successful?

Is success or failure entirely connected to talents one is born with?

Do you have what it emotionaly takes to be sucessful?

Is it important to set yourself goals to achieve success?

Are you willing to loose to win?

Do you have what it takes to be a success?

Are you willing to take risks?

What risks would you take & why?

Are some risks too great?

Can you be a real success without taking risks?

Does poor planing mean poor performance?

What to do if the plan fails?

How do you cope with setbacks?

Can you make it 'Totally' on your own?
