Do we need a building permit on our home project?

This is an interior project, no exterior work is being done.
Other than possibly a window.
We are planning on moving a non load-bearing wall, and putting in new floors.

My town wants permits for everything including decks and fences.However ive done many projects without.If its a non load bearing and you know what you are doing i wouldnt bother.Putting a window in shouldnt be a problem as long as the neighbors dont call on you.The only permit ive gotten was for an 8oo sq.ft. addition.If you do get a permit they charge by the cost of the job so put yourself down as the contracter and lessen the cost of the job so the permit will be cheaper.Mine was about 350.00 for the addition and that included all the inspections,I put the building cost at 50,000.00.So the cost of the permit isnt the problem,if youre scared just get a permit and sleep well at night.

i can't buy a door in my city without home depot alerting code complience. i was told, any door, window, or wall with elec. or plubing, must have permit.
