What is the reason behind the misconception of Islam?

I have seen some muslims (espicially from India) when they goto Gulf start hating the other religious preachers for no reason. My brother is a project manager in a company in the Middle East. He offered many his muslim friends from India decent jobs. A guy was so friendly with my brother for six months and started instgating his fellow muslims against my brother. To be frank, I heard that they feel they are working under a non-muslim and they dont want him.

If you are not a Muslim, you are an infidel, non-believer, therefore you are the enemy. He could be how nice and helpful, he doesn't stand a chance against such instill ideologies.

I don't understand your story about your brother...who is msulim? how is it misunderstanding islam if your brother and his workers are all muslims? maybe it's just a misunderstanding of how to practice the religion?
