List the personal and professional characteristics necessary to be an effective project manager?

Which of them are learnable?

Good Project Managers are often very different personalities. Here are my top five values:
- Able to work with people through good communication skills
- Ability to keep focused on the ultimate goal no matter how far people want to drag you into the details
- Can cut through the mass of trivia and focus on the key facts
- Not ego drive micro manager
- Able to cope with change. That can be change of direction, change in the environment, or changes to the way the project is run.

All are able to be learned. It just depends if people know themselves well enough to know if they are able to make the changes needed to be good project managers.
