My USB drive won't work. Why?

I've tried plugging it into all of the USB drives. Nothing. I've checked the device status and it said that it's not only compatible, but the device is enabled and that it's working properly. I've looked in the device manager and it said that I had the right driver for it, but not the hardware device. What do I do now?

I have a school reading project that I really need to be working on and I can't do it unless I can get my USB drive open. I'm at my dad's house and on his fianc茅's computer. I usually use my computer at home, but this is the only computer I've got.

Try opening it at the library.
