HELP!!! I need to become more funny??? |
I'm new at my job and I really want to do well (this is my first real job out of college). I think I'm doing fine for the most part except I don't get my boss' jokes. I'm working with one of the partners personally which is a big deal since people my lever don't get that opportunity until later on in their career. since both my supervisor and a project manager are out on vacation I get to directly work with a partner for the next 3 weeks. Maybe it's not your sense of humour that needs work, maybe it's his;-) Yeah, like everyone else said, if you're not getting his jokes, he's the one with the problem. You're not there to get his jokes, you're there (I'm assuming) to do a job for which you should be more concerned with doing well. Just relax and be greatful that he's trying not to make you uptight and nervous like some bosses. Hi Devo! just giggle at almost everything he says...that way if its not a joke because u giggle so much he'll think its natural but if it is he'll think u understood it...i do this 2 cuz all my friends are always being sarcastic and there so good at it i never no when they r or rn't...good luck you are new at your job so you are probably just nervous and tense. loosen up a little bit. but apparently you are doing something right since you have this amazing opportunity. good luck! Your in a bad situation. Maybe if you start telling him some jokes, he will like you better. You don't need to be funny (even though I think you are sometimes); just be yourself. So what if you don't get his jokes - maybe they aren't even funny. You don't have to feel like your worth is based on his approval which is sometimes wrapped up in jokes. Maybe tell him that you are not that good with understanding some kinds of jokes and that's why you don't laugh. Hopefully, he will be sensitive enough to stop trying to amuse you. |
