What do I do now?

I have been an IT project manager for 12 years. I recently lost my job as the CIO of an online company. I have owned my own company, also doing computer consulting and I just lost another job where they couldn't afford to pay me because of the economy. Anyway, I know I need to look for another job or get my butt back in school, but I don't know what I want to do. I've gotten to where I'm burnt out working on computers but it's all I know. Is there anywhere I can go or research on other careers that may interest me?

One of the best ways to explore new areas of work is to think about what you really love to do, and I don't mean just for money. Is there something you're really passionate about, or something that makes you happy doing it? Think about your hobbies, interests, what you do in your spare time.

Hi

Any job is unstable now. Everyone is losing their jobs for various reasons. Look at GM!

You got to have a plan B. I would also explore other avenues to make money either in your line of work or other.

I would do a recession-proof home business as well. I do one now, so I can get out of my Job soon. Yes, it costs a little investment but once it gets going you will be making what you want and not what your bosses allow you to have. Everyone is doing it with our company.
