Does anyone besides me feel frustrated that everyone in your life is moving on?

My sister is engaged to be married next year, she's an office manager in her law office and my cousins younger than me by 7 yrs are getting homes.

As for me, I haven't met anyone who wants to be serious in a relationship, I'm working full-time recently after the 5 yrs of projects during the downturn and barely can buy a new car.

I feel my family sees me as a downer than look at what I've done to survive to this point. I try to stay positive and patient but I've been patient for so long; I'm in my mid-30s. My family thinks I'm negative. What do you guys think?

Yeah, sometimes I feel like all my friends and even family is passing me by.

I am single - there isn't anyone on the horizon, I don't have any children, I still working a 50 hr week, but don't seem to get anywhere and can't save money because something always "pops" up that I need to fix or replace.
Nearly all my friends/family are married, with children or are pregnant, seen to always have money to go out and have fun, etc.

But I try not to let others see it get me down - one day it will be my turn and I don't want to force those situations on myself. I work hard for everything I have and have never been handed anything, so I take pride in the small things.

i am kind of

took me a while to get a job (part-time, maybe it will become full-time hopefully or will have to keep looking for one, had 4 so far)

When you've been through rocky financial times and haven't met anyone who wants to be serious in a relationship, it's easy to feel unappreciated. Even by yourself! Maybe you should concentrate on the financial side of things first. By not being attached, you can work a second part-time job and save your money from that to put into a house payment. That's just an example of one thing you have the freedom to do. You can also look at your living arrangments - is there a way to pay less rent, maybe by moving in with several roommates (short-term, until you can save more cash for your own place)? If you want to buy a small condo, to get started, that's a goal you can set for yourself and you can accomplish it by budgeting.
As for the relationships, all you can do is get out there and date and try to have fun doing that. You may be attracted to the type of guy who isn't going to get serious in a relationship with anyone. Date someone who is friendly, nice, and maybe not 'your type' - see if there is anything there after you've been dating him awhile. Might surprise you.
You may think your family sees you as a downer.... but perhaps they just worry about your security.

When I feel like my life sucks I look at some one elses life that may be worse. So hope this makes you feel better. I am 32 married to my 3rd husband. I have 2 kids whos dad is picking his wife over them now. I have 2 step kids whose mother is nuts. I mean NUTS and will not leave me alone. The kids are 9 to 12 and all to spoiled. I also work 40 hours a week in a glass plant in temperatures @ about 100 to 150 for 12.15 a hour. My newest car is a 1989 van that is falling a part. We are in debt up to our eyeballs well worse because work slowed down and we had layoffs and 4 day weeks.

Feel better yet?

Some people are destined to stay single; some are people who may have many people who are bad for them. Take King Henry VIII. Divorced, beheaded, died. Divorced, beheaded, survived. His wives all died in that fashion. His last wife was more of a companion. Some people could marry in their fifties. Keep looking out there. If you are really desperate for a soul mate or companion, try online dating.

As for everyone moving on, there are some people who move too fast and miss something vital. It is great to marry and have kids young; but bear in mind that your kids age with you.
