Charitable Distributed Computing?

Hey, I wonder if any of you have tried this...I know most of the real hard core nerds have (like me). Distributed Computing is a way of using your computer's "Down Time" (or even regular time running in the background) to form a virtual supercomputer for non-profit medical and scientific research purposes. You might want to check into it if you're feeling charitable...I mean, I like games and anime, but I really like it when my "toys" can be put to good use. The two most popular sites are "Folding@home," which is a protein folding research protocol run by Stanford and "BOINC Manager" run by the good folk at UC Berkeley...it has many projects to choose from. Do your ego a favor...and help some valuable research get done.

I currently participate in the data folding project for SETI at home, which participate in the search for extra-terrestrial life.
