How to market painting and decorating company?

currently my company is sub-sub contractor. how can I be sub-contractor of big building company or to get work directly from school, hospital etc. I'd like to know how to contact building companies or project managers, visiting? or calling? emailing?
Many thanks

It's who you know. I know a decorator I wouldn't let loose to creocote my garden fence, but his wife works for a housing association...

See if in your area there are any of those breakfast business clubs that meet once a month and everyone does a two-three minute presentation of their business. Call in on Estate agents. Knock on a few doors.

Good luck.

You should have some decent collateral and a website.

First try calling some contacts. Tell them that you would like an opportunity to work with them. If they are friendly offer to take them to lunch to get their opinion and feedback. This will provide you guidance on how to develop a fuller outbound sales plan.

Calling is probably one of your best bets. You can also develop a mailing list of companies you are calling or others that you have not yet called. Send them a postcard (this is a special collateral pice that is not in an envelope.) (see my favoriate www.purepostcards.com. I have had good results with postcard marketing. Also, be sure to send to the people you have called or will call.

Calling after you have mailed to them gives you something else to say when you call. "Hi, I was following up on the mail that I sent about painting..."

Of course, if you can get the email that is great. You will probably only get that from people who you have had a good conversation with. Be sure to ask for their email so you can send them more information. Assure them it will not be spam but rather your website and that's it.

Good luck!
