Does anyone know of a small, cheap project management tool?

It needs to graphically show current jobs and help plan new jobs, we need to show the "higher up's" the current status of the department. Many thanks!

Don't know if this one can do all you want it to, but there is a free online project manager at http://www.iteamwork.com - might get you along until you get better ideas :)

If you already have Microsoft office , try the MS office site for suitable templates you can use in your existing applications.

Or see if MS have any evaluation / free trial versions of MS Project you can download.

Yes, me. I'm a business coach, small and relatively cheap.

Just use MS Excel
Set up spreadsheets to track the status of the various jobs, with generated summaries. Then use the charting and graph facilities of EXCEL to present the summary information in a format that those people with low attention spans can understand.
Call it "traffic-lighting" or a "management dashboard", and when (if) they ever ask an intelligent detailed question you say you are "drilling-down" into the detailed view. Keep it as simple as you possibly can at all levels.
You won't just show them the status of the department, you will also show them how clever you are.
If you need help with EXCEL then read the manual (help) or find an underpaid secretary.

Ms Project is not bad. Suretrak from Primavera is another.

If you have access to Linux, then you have MrProject, which comes with Redhat distribution I think.. That's for free!
