What do you consider the three most important parts of project management?

The management of the results of the project, management (and buy-in) of the relationships of the team members, and ultimate satisfaction of the customers and stakeholders of the project. This sounds like BS, but believe me, in all my experience of both doing projects and consulting with dysfunctional project teams, it all boils down to these three areas.

goal; method to achieve that goal; budget

You will find very different opinions of this subject. But here is my experiences:

1. Identify problem
2. Identify recommended solutions with pros/cons
3. Identify how to implement the chosen solution.
4. Identify a means and timeline to measure the effectiveness or ineffectiveness of the solution.

1. Getting off your high horse.
2. Taking off that yellow necktie and rolling up your sleeves.
3. Cutting the lip service and doing some actual work for a change.
