I take early childhood education. this is concerning my principles and practices classroom management project. |
erm. my question is. The instructional environment is where you do your teaching, and who is there are what is there. Is it a big room? Small? Bright or dark? How many adults are present? How many children? What color is the wall painted? Are the chairs and tables kid-size? Are there chairs and tables? Can you see out the windows? WHAT do you see out the windows? Are there pictures on the wall? Pictures of what? Are they down low or at adult height? If you go to a playground, that's also your instructional environment. If you take walks, that's also part of your instructional environment. the instructional environment is where the children play, work etc. It is where you the Early Childhood Educator instruct the children in your care. As previously pointed out, you need to see if it meets the needs of the children. The furnishings, materials, set up of various curriculum areas allow enough room to work/play without interfering with a general pathway from one end of the room to the other. If you have special needs children, physical or developmental delays, does the environment allow them access to the entire room/play area or does it prevent them from being able to fully access toys, tables/chairs/gross motor equipment? All these things need to be looked at when you look at the environment you teach in. ECE courses tend to use phrases like "instructional environment" when talking about the space you and the children work in. |
