What are the rules for plaigerism in India/Nepal?

I am doing a book editing project and the author has collected tidbits of information from the net about a subject and compiled it in a particular way and referenced a list of websites consulted toward the end of the book.

Is that allowed or does it infringe on any copyright laws on an international level?

Is the information on the websites copyrighted? If so, you'll have to ask for permission from the author or webmaster. Regardless, it's still safer to ask for written permission.
