MS word and power point is not freeware.

Try Open office. It's free.
http://www.openoffice.org/

OpenOffice.org is a multiplatform and multilingual office suite and an open-source project. Compatible with all other major office suites, the product is free to download, use, and distribute. To help build the community, join us.

You can't get them for free, that would be illegal.
These aren't exactly Microsoft Word and Powerpoint, but they are Open Source and can open those types of files.

www.openoffice.org

You have to pay for it. You could download Open Office from http://www.openoffice.org. It has equivalent programs to MS office, and you can set all of them to default save in MS format. (.doc for word, .ppt for powerpoint)

Sadly, you cannot get this software for free. If it came preinstalled on your computer and you still have the discs you may be able to reinstall it. However, at this time, there is no LEGAL way to download Office via the internet. If you can't find your discs, you may have to go to the store and get it. Good news though, if you are a student, they do make a student version that is the same thing only cheaper. All you usually need is a valid student ID.

Here is one on tigerdirect:

Or you could get openoffice which is free
http://www.openoffice.org

LEGALLY YR CHANCES TO GET ANY MICROSOFT'S SOFTWARE IS ABSOLUTELY ZERO
go to http://www.openoffice.org and download openoffice - FREE DOWNLOAD - it is open source answer (translate this to FREE DOWNLOAD AND FREE TO USE) to ms office and there is program called open office writer which is equivalent to ms word and impress is equivalent to powerpoint - if you're familiar with ms office you'll be right at home -

you can go to www.download.com
