Can connect to internet via WEP but not LAN - help!?

I have a Toshiba notebook with XP Pro and I've always been able to connect at home or work with both the wireless and Ethernet connection. Today, however, the wireless connects fine but the Ethernet connection does not. This is very strange because I can connect to the network and transfer files between the notebook and other computers on the network with the Ethernet connection.

When I try to connect to the Internet or mail, I get nothing. I've checked the TCP/IP settings and rechecked the Ethernet connection and drivers and all seems well. No ping-ability to any web locals however - yes to local machines on the network. I've already restored the computer to a date when both were working and still no on the Internet. I'll unplug the cat5 and pop the wireless card back in and BAM the Internet's there so there鈥檚 no setting issues in IE7. What gives? I've been searching knowledge bases all day and I'm stumped. First posting ever to a help site BTW.

Try deleting the ethernet adapter from device manager and allow windows to reinstall it after a restart, that can clear a lot of problems.

press start , my network places, view network places... then right click on as many connection you may have .. and look for "enable" .. it its already enables.. then try "repair"...

i suggest try downloading Winsock XP Fix. WinSock XP Fix offers a last resort if your Internet connectivity has been corrupted due to invalid or removed registry entries.
