Who knows a suitable piece of music to play for a (jazz-)trio of vibes, bass and drums?

right, so I've been wanting to play with these two guys ever since and now the opportunity has opened up. we are a trio of bass, vibraphone and drums. now the drummer is technically very sophisticated, has been playing a long time and is mostly into fusion, rock-jazz and maybe funk.
the bass player is probably the weakest one of the 3 of us in terms of versatility on his instrument. again in music theory he knows a lot of stuff. His problem is that he can't transfer his theoratical knowledge into practice.
anyway our vibes player is exactly the other way around. he has a great ability to play free and creative but if you talk about things like G-minor he won't know what you mean.

So do you guys have any idea of what song we could play. preferrably jazz, funk, light rock or pop.

why don't you try Spain, the most famous piece by Chick Corea. Your drummer can do the Steve Gadd drumming.

Another piece would be Chameleon by Herbie Hancock.
