Easy way to learn the metric system?

I'm from the U.S. I just want to learn it and get familiar with it. This is not for school, just for a basic knowledge of the system.

here are some sites that might help...

http://www.pasoschools.org/prhs/pasohigh...

The only thing complicated about the metric system is converting it to the US & Imperial systems. So don't do it.

Stand on a scale to find your mass in kg, measure your height in cm.

Remember the more common prefixes:-
milli = a thousandth
centi = a hundredth
kilo = thousand
and apply them to common units e.g. :-
millimetre [mm],
centimetre [cm],
kilometre [km],
milligram [mg],
kilogram [kg]
litre [L]
centilitre [cL]

King [Kilo] Henry [Hecta] Died [Decta] Monday [Gram, Meter, Liter, normal stuff] Drinking [Deci] Chocolate [Centi] Milk [Milli]

The normal whole numbers start at the Monday one & to convert like a Liter to a KiloLiter you move the decimal 3 places to the right. K<--3-- H<--2-- D<--1-- M k h d m

Get a metric measuring tape and start measuring objects around your house. Then start guessing the length of things and then check with your measuring tape. The same method could apply to other metric measurements like volume and temperature.

focus on the prefixes

kilo - thousand
hecto - hundred
deka - ten

deci - tenth
centi - hundredth
milli - thousandth

then the less common ones
mega - million
giga - billion

micro - millionth
nano - billionth

Information is below.
